Alter is a meeting assistant designed for Mac users, capable of accurately identifying and labeling multiple speakers in meetings, with optimal accuracy for 2-8 participants. It integrates seamlessly with popular productivity tools like Notion, Slack, and Linear, allowing users to pull agendas from calendars and push summaries and action items to CRM or project management systems. Transcripts, which include speaker labels and timestamps, can be exported in plain text and serve as context for the Alter AI assistant to generate summaries or other documents. While original recordings remain on the Mac, transcripts and insights can be shared in standard formats. Alter offers both free (basic local models for shorter meetings up to 20-30 minutes) and paid plans, which provide access to optimized Parakeet V3 and Whisper Pro models, 50+ AI models, enhanced processing, and priority support. It supports completely offline recording and local processing with the Parakeet V3 model, with an internet connection only required for cloud processing or certain AI analysis features. Audio recordings are efficiently compressed, with a 1-hour meeting typically using around 10 MB. Alter is compatible with any audio input device recognized by Mac and includes automatic backup systems to prevent data loss.
